I have several knitting needle cases already. One that really only holds the long straight needs, and one that holds everything, but in big unorganized pocket that is attached to a big bag like thing and can hold a whole project. Both of these do not work for me. I don't like things super big and I don't like everything to be unorganized and not in one place. So...I saw online that people were making their own knitting needle cases and decided that I could do this too. Now don't get too excited, I'm not much of a sewer, but I think I did ok for having no clue what I was doing and for having not 1, but 2 sewing machines that take turns breaking over and over. They hate me. It's ok, we've agreed to disagree. I chose fun colorful contrasting fabrics and pretty much began sewing. I did it by sight- Aug loves when I say this because I do everything by sight...which is why we have a crooked picture on our wall in the living room...not that he was able to get it any straighter. I still stand by that the frame's hook is crooked and not my hanging skills! Anyway, I knew what I wanted and I did use a ruler to gauge how far apart I wanted each pocket and I just started sewing. I think I did a pretty good job!
I didn't want ties or a hook or anything velcro, so I made a scrunchie to go around it because it goes on and comes off easily which really works best for me.
