I just finished reading a book and I have 2 others that I am reading right now. I find that in the summer I read so much more than I do in the winter. I guess it's because I'm out of school and I have time to catch up. I was only going to post a few books and then started to post all the books I have read in the last several years. I got a little carried away. I like to collect books. I like to display them on shelves and talk to people about them and I love when I am reading a series and a new book comes out. I was in line with my Dad for every Harry Potter book after book 3 and my Mom and I enjoy all the Janet Evanovich books. When we lived together and I would be reading a Janet book in my room, I'd be laughing out loud and my Mom would start to laugh at me from her room because we just think that Stephanie Plum and Lula are so funny. Then my Mom would read it and laugh out loud and I would laugh and ask her what part she was at. I grew up with a library in my house. My Dad was an English teacher and my Mom always has a stack of 10 books next to her bed that she's reading or waiting to read. Books were always a big thing in my life. I think that's one reason I like to teach. I love reading stories to the kids that I enjoy hearing also. I collect books. I'm a bibliophile. I'm really struggling with the idea of getting a Kindle or an ipad or one of those electronic readers. They have a lot of benefits...but a lot of draw backs too...something to think about...

I highly recommend reading Water For Elephants. I haven't met one person who I recommended it to that hasn't fallen in love with it. It's a page-turner! You won't regret it!

Yarn Winding and the Ribbon Hat

On the way home from Watkins Glen we stopped at a little yarn shop in Geneva, NY. The store was called The Yarn Shop of Geneva and they had a very nice selection of different yarns. I bought one skein that needed to be wound and I was so excited to watch the woman do it. I've seen pictures of people winding yarn, but I've never actually had it done. It came out really nice. Now I want one.

No day trip is complete without a hat to finish it off. I can't sit in the car for a million hours with quiet hands. I need to be doing something productive while I sight see from the car. So here it is...the little ribbon hat. The original pattern was done in a very light pink with a light pink sheer ribbon. It was very sweet, but I wanted it to have a little more color.

Watkins Glen Day Trip

Aug and I took a day trip to Watkins Glen State Park over the weekend. I have been coming here for many years and love it. I love to hike through the Glen and see all the gorgeous scenery. It was fun to come with Aug since he has never been here.

We stopped here and did that thing where you ask total strangers to take your picture. They didn't seem very happy about it. I'm not sure why that's such a big deal for people. It takes all of 30 seconds out of your day to preserve someones memory forever. I don't see what the big deal is. Thanks to the people who took the picture for us though!

 Pictures don't do this place any justice. You have to see it in person it's just beautiful.

My nature boy was pointing little minnows and water snakes out to me. All the times that I've been here I never noticed anything living in the water. My nature boy notices all that good stuff!

I usually take this trip with my Dad, but he just had his 2nd knee surgery so he wasn't going to make the trip this year. This cute pier is right next to the restaurant that we eat outside at when we visit. I think this little pier is so welcoming and friendly looking.
